Happy New Year / Prayer of Philaret

Woo-Hoo, only a week late, eh? Seriously, 2006 has been pretty awesome so far. New Year's Resolutions include not staying up til 1 or 2 in the morning on the computer. It's tough, I tell ya.

Anyhoo, I open every day with the following prayer, which I pray in a kind of chant (helps me remember it, remember where I am). It's a prayer of Philaret, patriarch of Moscow. I added the lines about forgiveness at the end cuz that's important to me.
Be blessed!

LORD, grant me to greet the coming day in peace.
Help me in all things to rely on your holy will.

In every hour of the day reveal your will to me.
Teach me to treat all that comes to me
throughout the day with peace of soul,
and with firm conviction
that your will governs everything.

In all my deeds and words guide my thoughts and feelings.
In unforeseen events let me not forget
that all are sent by you.

Teach me to act firmly and wisely,
without embittering and embarrassing others.
Give me the strength to bear the fatigue
of the coming day with all that it shall bring.

Wash me clean with forgiveness for all of my offenses;
Grant me the strength of your Spirit and guide me in your ways.

Direct my will.
Teach me to pray.
Pray yourself in me.

Here's another prayer of Philaret
