A nice story

Do you know the legend of the Cherokee Indian youth's rite of passage? His dad takes him into the forest blindfolded and leaves him alone. He is required to sit on a stump the whole night and not take off the blindfold until the ray of sun shines through it. He is all by himself. He cannot cry out for help to anyone. Once he survives the night, he is a MAN. He cannot tell the other boys of this experience. Each lad must come into his own manhood.

The boy in our story was, naturally, terrified. Her could hear all kinds of noise. Beasts were all around him. Maybe even a human would hurt him. The wind blew the grass and earth and it shook his stump. But he sat stoically, never removing the blindfold. It would be the only way he could be a man. Finally, after a horrific night the sun appeared and he removed his blindfold. It was then that he saw his father sitting on the stump next to him - at watch the entire night.

"I will never fail you. I will never abandon you."- God (Hebrews 13:5)

New Years Resolutions

My 2007 positive affirmations

• I love God. I spend regular time in his Word and in prayer. I worship regularly and take Sabbath. I seek to be Christ-like in thought, word, and deed.

• I am a responsible servant of the church. I work hard, I plan ahead, and I model grace, integrity, and discipline.

• I love my wife. My eyes are for her body alone. I do not view porn or its cousin, erotica, neither do I sneak peeks at other women.

• I am a responsible husband and father. I spend time with my wife and my daughter. I am organized and I don't procrastinate. I maintain a financially fit household.

• I am fond of my body. I take care of it by regular exercise and by eating right. I drink alcohol because I like it, but I limit my intake because I like my body too.
