So in spite of the fact that I knew it was our wedding anniversary, sure enough, the whole day passed without me presenting my bride with an anniversary gift.

She gave me mine on Saturday: a new automatic coffeemaker, so I could have coffee on Sunday morning.

And then tonight we're watching Aladdin with our daughter and my wife says "So do you have any earrings for me?"

Doh!

That's right, I says to myself. Two months ago she had hinted that this particular pair of earrings would be nice for our anniversary, and she left the catalog on the table. Naturally I ordered them, they arrived, and I hid them.

Outta sight, outta mind.

"So do you have any earrings for me?"

I sprang off the couch and sheepishly dashed into the other room, where her anniversary earrings were hidden, then somewhat unceremoniously presented them to her. Just what she wanted!

We had a good laugh.

It's good to be married.
